Changes in regulation, capital availability and yield have presented challenges and opportunity for our clients. The asset management sector has been working through the implications of MiFID II whilst shifting pensions regulation has affected the dynamics for wealth management companies. Excess capital continues to impact insurance rates and has highlighted the importance of quality distribution, which in turn has led to significant activity in the broker market. And then there was “Brexit”. This has added a layer of uncertainty to what were already complex sector developments, which whilst creating a challenging environment also presents significant opportunity in M&A. We expect the current high levels of activity to continue into 2017.
